Golden Corral Restaurant

The company is privately owned by active founder and corporate senior management. The franchise’s advisory council consists of 18 franchisees, that are selected by their peers.
Golden Corral always tries to satisfy ever changing customer preferences. The company earned the prestigious “Menu Master Award” and the national “Menu Strategist Award” in 2005.
Golden Corral restaurants also received positive reviews from “Restaurant Business” magazine, which said that the company produces great results in its class and unique menu items that emphasize unique flavors along with ethnic tastes.

The first Golden Corral was founded in 1971 by J. Maynard and W.F. Carl in North Carolina. The company was incorporated in 1972 and the first Golden Coral restaurant was opened in 1973 and it was called “Golden Corral Family Steak House”.
The company have already had more than 500 restaurants by 1987 and they decided to start licensing distressed restaurants to their skilled managers the same year. Although the idea seemed great, it failed due to poor training, concerns red meat consumption and a shift of market shares to more successful restaurants.
In 1991 the first “Metro Market” concept restaurants were opened. They were vast indeed (930 m²) and had a guest capacity of 400-500 people. So, basically, the new Golden Corral locations were twice the old size, which was 460 m² with the capacity of 175 people. Another great addition was Brass Bell Bakery, which was named after a bell that rang every 15 minutes to signal that fresh baking is coming out of the oven.
The company’s newest concept is called “Strata”, which was presented during the mid-2000s. The aim of this idea was to bring food preparation to the public view. This concept was later accepted by all Golden Corral restaurants.
